Taxim-Sultanahmet: From Sultanahmet, catch the tram
to Kabatas and the connecting funicular up to Taksim Sq.
- Süleymaniye-Moschee:
Die Terrasse ist einer der
schönsten Aussichtspunkte der Stadt. Noch besser: Die beiden Panorama-Cafes unmittelbar im NO der
Moschee. Mihrisah Cafe (super
Cappucino) und Mimar Sinan
Teras Cafe. Siehe Wegpunkte von 2018_09.
- Nordwestgrat:
Metrobrücke - lokale Essgasse - Viadukt- Moscheen auf
Westhügel + Nordwestkamm.
- Cafe im Gülhane-Park mit
Bosporus-Blick: At the northern end of the park is the Set
Üstü Çay Bahçesi (p 98), an outdoor tea garden
with superb views over the Bosphorus. Pricey, but there are few better
places in the city to enjoy a pot of tea.
- Rüstem Pasa Mosque: (Rüstem
Pasa Camii, Mosque of Rüstem Pasa; Map p 62 ; Hasircilar Caddesi)
Hidden in the middle of the busy Tahtakale district to the west of the
Spice Bazaar, this little-visited mosque is an absolute gem.
Sommer-Nightspots. Lohnenswert besonders am Abend und tagsüber zum
Sonntags-Markt.
Map p 76. Charming waterside suburb with a
jumble of Ottoman
buildings renovated as stylish boutiques and eateries. Nights: The
restaurants, bars and cafes on and around the teeny cobbled square by
the water
overflow with locals enjoying a drink or meal while indulging in some
of the
city’s best people-watching. On the water’s edge, the
decorative Ortaköy
Mosque (Ortaköy Camii, Büyük Mecidiye Camii).
Visit for Sunday,
when the bustling street market fills the cobbled lanes. Do as the
locals do
and come for brunch. To get here from Sultanahmet, catch the tram to
Kabatas
and then bus 22, 25E or 30D; from Taksim Sq, catch bus DT2, 40, 40T or
42T (get
off at the Ortaköy or Kabatas Lisesi bus stop).
- Prinzeninseln: Das mit
Abstand schönste und
empfehlenswerteste Tagesausflugsziel in der Umgebung Instanbuls.
- Kadiköy: Der
pulsierendste Stadtteil auf der asiatischen
Seite. Kleine bunte Gassen, lustige Studentenkneipen, farbenfrohe
Basarzeilen und schicke Boutiquen. Dienstag der größte
Istanbuler Wochenmarkt.
Fabulous
fresh produce market + one of
Istanbul’s best eateries, Çiya Sofrasi. The market is
south of the ferry dock,
and Çiya is close to its centre, as is Baylan Pastanesi, a great
spot for coffee
and cake. Kadiköy
and the suburbs southeast to Bostanci are the Asian side’s
entertainment hubs. Alternative culture: Kadife Sokak with
independent cinema, grunge boutiques, tattoo studios and bars. And to
see the
wealthy at play, cruise down Bagdat Caddesi, which is full of shops,
restaurants
and cafes.
To the north of Kadiköy is the neoclassical Haydarpasa Train
Station,
resembling a German castle Today there’s talk of transforming it
and its surrounds
into a high-rise recreation and trade precinct.
Ferries travelling between Kadiköy and Karaköy usually make a
quick stop here. To
get to Kadiköy from Sultanahmet, hop on the ferry from
Eminönü, which runs
every 15 to 20 minutes (depending on the time of day) between 7.30am
and
8.40pm. The last ferry back to Eminönü is at 8.20pm.
From the ferry terminal at Karaköy (the Beyoglu side of Galata
Bridge) services run from 6.15am every 10 to 30 minutes (depending on
the time of day) until 11.30pm. The last ferry back to Karaköy is
at 11.30pm. A ferry service also operates from Besiktas (catch it from
beside the Deniz Müzesi), starting at 7.15am and running every
half-hour until 9.15pm. The last ferry back to Besiktas is at 8.45pm.

Galata Tower: (Galata Kulesi; Map p 72 ; Galata Meydani, Galata;
admission TL10; h9am-8pm).
Though the view from its vertiginous panorama balcony is spectacular,
we
suggest enjoying this over a drink on the terrace of the Anemon Galata
hotel
opposite, rather than paying the inflated entry fee here.

·
Galata Bridge: (Map p 62 ) Nothing is quite as evocative as walking
across Galata
Bridge. At sunset, when Galata Tower is surrounded by the silhouettes
of
shrieking seagulls and the mosques atop the seven hills of the city are
thrown
into relief against a soft redpink sky, the surrounds are spectacularly
beautiful.

In Dalyan
it is possible to rent a canoe or one of the rowboat's used to ferry

thus to see the river with much less noise and exhaust than on the
tourist
motor boats. The birds on and around the river are outstanding and
should
receive much more press and hopefully protection from disturbance. In
general,
Turkey is a much more celebrated country for birding than a traveller
would
guess.

that comes to mind is Olympos to Cappadocia. Sure, there are through

overnight. If, like me, you can't sleep sitting up and can write off
the next
day if you try, a daytime trip is far more pleasant. By being prepared
to
change at Antalya and Konya I had a wonderfully comfortable trip on
quarter-full buses. And the scenery between Antalya and Konya is
marvelous.

a distance of 13 km from the
city of Isparta. The size of the lake is 1 km2. It’s ideal for a

near the lake. On the asphalt road leading to Golcuk, the Milas Picnic
area with its cold water and century old trees is very popular with the
people of Isparta.
- Kara (Black Lake): A
glacier lake located between the peaks of Dedegöl Mountains (2335

Lake Egirdir and the town of the
same name are 36 km from the city of
Isparta. The lake is Turkey’s fourth largest. The color of the
lake
appears to change constantly. It’s ringed with unspoiled
beaches. The water is tappable and
is distinguished with a Blue Flag rating. The surface is 517 km2. In
the lakeside restaurants of the town you can feast under wonderful
lighting on fish dinners featuring delicious bass, carp and crayfish.
